It’s been a while since we’ve experienced a new Aminé album in full force. Having last left us with a dangerously high dose of summer indulgence, courtesy of his critically acclaimed LP KAYTRAMINÉ  a collaboration with the king of feel-good dance music Kaytranada back in 2023, he now returns with his newest single ‘Familiar’, offering a highly anticipated glimpse into his forthcoming album.

In recent years, Aminé’s artistic signature has seen him paint technicolour snapshots of the sun-soaked West Coast, often delivering each release with a vigor that embodies a sunshine-yellow Chevy convertible. For many fans across the pond, we’ve come to love what can only be described as an Aminé-induced, heatwave hangover in the middle of our classically grey British summers, and now on his latest, aptly titled single ‘Familiar’, he delivers a sound that’s sure to bode well with his listeners. On the 2 minute track, the Portland rapper can be heard musing over a failed relationship atop a bouncy, disco-soul beat that subtly nods to his 2023 partnership with Kaytranada. The release is also accompanied by a new music video that references his Ethiopian-Eritrean heritage.

On the single he says, "You love somebody while knowing that it’s not the right thing to do, but it’s still hard to let go. I let a little bit of my toxic side onto the track, too, but I think that honesty is important."

iné’s new album is set to release spring 2025 via 10K Projects.
