Following in the footsteps of her outstanding debut single ‘Round The Bend’, Annie OLeary has joined forces with Sample K once again for the follow-on single ‘Peace Of Mind’.
Fusing together her soul-infused vocals with Sample K’s explorative production blending elements of the DnB renaissance with a dark drill-influenced baseline. With Annie’s powerful lyrics seeing her open up whilst in a low and isolated place, we hear Annie ask for peace of mind from the ones who are no longer here, asking for help from the ones looking down on us.
Talking on the release Annie said;
“This track began as me reflecting on those who are no longer with us, I dwelled on the peacefulness of being in my own company, and took the time to appreciate my surroundings, this sense of stillness provoked the comforting thought that perhaps loved ones look down on us and align the stars when we’re feeling hard done by. This concept brought me peace of mind, and as when writing I was feeling particularly low, isolated and pensive, I wrote the song as a plea to the people upstairs for peace of mind.”
“Kieran (Sample K) and I took to capturing the melancholy and abstractness of this concept, using the dramatic piano, the strings sample and drill influenced bass line to provoke the atmosphere necessary to the song’s meaning. The drums were our experimentation of drum and bass as we see it emerging on the underground UK scene, which resulted in a unique, relaxed beat that gives my lyrics and vocal melody the emphasis and poignancy we desired for the track.”
Already building a versatile and distinctive discography, Annie is already making a solid and loyal fanbase who are waiting with eagerness for what’s next to come.
