Swedish alt-R&B innovator Bavé follows up his cinematic cut ‘Anima (Think of You)’ with a haunting new release, ‘Yayo’. The track, released via The Satchi Six, explores the seductive yet destructive forces of addiction, wrapped in hypnotic production and raw emotional depth.

With pounding 808s and heavy dub-inspired percussion, ‘Yayo’ pulls listeners into its swirling sonic landscape. Bavé’s falsetto cuts through the darkness, delivering intricate wordplay that captures the emotional wreckage of a love consumed by self-destruction. “Yayo is about a place within that was once filled with life and light but is now silent and empty,” he explains.
The production leans into alt-R&B while weaving in direct influences from King Tubby and dub music. It’s an extension of Bavé’s evolving sound—one that embraces both vulnerability and authority.
‘Yayo’ is the latest glimpse into Bavé’s upcoming album, ‘Acoustics & Hood Psychedelia’, a project shaped by two years of artistic exploration in London and New York. His time spent in underground scenes abroad ultimately brought him back to his roots, where dub and sound system culture shaped his youth in Gottsunda, Sweden.
Bavé first made waves with his 2021 debut EP In Vermouth before his breakout moment at Gothenburg’s Way Out West festival in 2022. His All Stars Aligned EP followed, earning him Grammis and Manifest Awards in the Best Soul/R&B categories.
Now, with ‘Yayo’, Bavé solidifies his reputation as one of Europe’s most compelling underground voices. His music blurs the lines between R&B, psychedelia, and dub, creating a sound that feels cinematic, immersive, and deeply personal.
With ‘Acoustics & Hood Psychedelia’ on the horizon, Bavé is poised to leave an even bigger mark. Stream ‘Yayo’ now and stay tuned for what’s next.
