Melbourne-based trio Blusher - comprised of Jade, Lauren, and Miranda - have just shared their final single of the year, “Somebody New.”
After months of releasing bold pop singles that reveal the different layers of their artistic identity, this song arrives as a vibrant anthem dedicated to friendship, heartbreak, and the exhilarating cycle of starting over.
Blusher have spent 2024 pushing the boundaries of their sound. They kicked off the year with “Rave Angel,” an electrifying, Charli XCX-inspired track, introducing a new wave of experimental electronics to their repertoire. Alongside solo versions of their singles, each member has brought a unique twist to the “Blusher-verse,” exploring what makes them distinct as individuals while also highlighting the power of their collaboration.
Their latest single, “Somebody New,” captures the emotional rollercoaster of breakups and rebounds, underscoring the special role that friends play in each step. Describing the track, Blusher explains:
“Somebody New is our fun, flirty mantra that mirrors the cycle of breaking up, rebounding, swearing off love, and knowing you’ll do it all over again. Mostly, it’s a love song to the friends who are by your side through the whole process. Late nights out with your new crush, first kisses in the club followed by tears on the dancefloor - whatever stage of the cycle you’re in, we wrote this song to be the soundtrack.”
With “Somebody New,” Blusher has once again proven that their unique, genre-blending sound and bold approach to storytelling make them one of Australia’s most compelling new pop acts.
