DJ Gigola Returns With Bigroom Sensual II Offering Club Intensity With No Compromise

There’s no filler on Bigroom Sensual II. Just two heavyweight club tracks - Bailarina and Gigolo - that manage to carry DJ Gigola’s high-gloss production style without giving in to EDM excess.

Released as the second chapter in her Bigroom Sensual series, and hot off the back of her Coachella debut. If the first EP cracked open her vision, this one tightens it up and hits harder.

Both tracks are direct. Bailarina sways between trance and reggaeton rhythms, then drops into a tightly wound techno section laced with Gigola’s ghostlike vocals. Gigolo feels bigger and darker, like a heatwave in a warehouse, pulsing with sidechained synths and a sharpened groove. These aren’t nostalgic tracks. They borrow from early 2000s trance and tech house but treat those influences like raw material, not a template.

Gigola says the EP is about folding EDM into her sound without fully crossing over. That in-between is exactly where these tracks live. EDM for her isn’t about big drops and cheap drama; it’s about scale, emotion, and playing with tension. You hear that across both songs. They’re built for clubs, but they’ve got a weird intimacy to them, too.

It’s just the latest move in what’s already a heavy year. Gigola opened 2024 with a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and hasn’t slowed down since. She’s booked for nearly 40 shows between April and August; from Berghain to Coachella, Glitch Festival to Lido in London. Next up, she’s back in East London at The Cause on 11 May for LIVE FROM EARTH Open Air, joined by labelmates MCR-T, Bauernfeind and MRD.

Bigroom Sensual II might only be two tracks long, but it’s another sharp turn in an already shapeshifting discography. Gigola’s not interested in clean genre categories; she’s building her own language, and this is her most direct statement yet.
