DOECHII MAKES A STATEMENT WITH 'DENIAL IS A RIVER' VIDEO

Doechii, the dynamic rapper and singer, has unveiled the music video for 'Denial Is a River.'

The track, taken from her acclaimed mixtape 'Alligator Bites Never Heal,' which dropped on August 30, 2024, has drawn significant attention, reaching No. 82 on the Billboard 200 and landing on multiple year-end lists.

The music video features Doechii in a whimsical sitcom setting reminiscent of 90s classics like 'Family Matters.' She leads the narrative, sharing her personal and professional journey with guest appearances from Zack Fox, Rickey Thompson, ScHoolboy Q, SiR, Teezo Touchdown, Earl Sweatshirt, Baby Tate, and DJ Miss Milan.

Lyrically, 'Denial Is a River ' explores Doechii's experiences with past relationships and her career’s rapid rise, emphasising themes of personal growth and resilience. In an August 2024 Instagram post, she described her mixtape as a symbol of power reclamation, stating,

“This mixtape is my fight back. I am nobody’s prey; I was born to be the predator.”

Directed by Carlos Acosta and James Mackel, the visually captivating video highlights Doechii’s theatrical versatility. Her appearances on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and NPR's Tiny Desk have further solidified her dynamic stage presence and storytelling abilities.
