The brothers, Rhys and Harvey, have made a name for themselves by blending gritty, real-world lyricism with infectious beats, and “Hoodies & Hats” is no exception. This single is an emotive exploration of grief, loss, and the unique ways young men cope. Rhys reflects on the pain of losing a close friend’s mum, rapping with brutal honesty:

“It’s been a tough year. My best mate’s mum passed. He looks unharmed, but it left her son scarred.”

The track is raw and intimate, touching on how the late nights, drugs, and alcohol serve as temporary escapes, while hinting at the need for deeper healing that “therapy ain’t going to help him get through.”

Known for their sharp lyricism and genre-fluid style, EYK delivers once again, channelling the struggles of youth culture into relatable, cathartic tracks. From the early days of their debut EP 'Cheer Up Charlie' in 2018 to their well-received 'Just For The Times' mixtape in 2021, the duo has continued to push boundaries. If you’ve ever heard their music in FIFA 20, or caught them live at Reading & Leeds, Roskilde, or Boomtown, you know their sound hits hard and connects deeply with their fans.

“Hoodies & Hats” is only the second taste of what’s to come from 'Ain’t Smiled in Ages,' a record that promises to capture the essence of a big weekend out; from the restless build-up during the week to the euphoric highs of the dance floor, and ending with the bittersweet aftermath.

Produced in the brothers’ home studio in Denham, a space lovingly built by their dad, this album is a real reflection of suburban life in the UK.- packed with its ups, downs, and everything in between. Co-written with industry legends like David Sneddon and Theo Hutchcraft, 'Ain’t Smiled in Ages' is shaping up to be a true emotional journey, shining a light on the joy, chaos, and darkness that so many experience but rarely speak about.

If you’re looking for a soundtrack that speaks to the struggles of youth, but also celebrates its resilience, this album is going to hit the spot. Get ready to preorder it, because 'Ain’t Smiled in Ages' is one you won't want to miss.
