JIM LEGXACY DROPS EMOTIONAL NEW SINGLE ‘AGGRESSIVE’ AS HE PREPARES FOR BLACK BRITISH MUSIC

Jim Legxacy sets the stage for his upcoming mixtape Black British Music (2024) with the release of his latest single, ‘aggressive’, marking his first release under XL Recordings.

A poignant blend of modern heartbreak with a nod to the past, sampling Chip’s 2009 hit ‘Oopsy Daisy’ and merging it with Jim’s smooth, melancholic dancehall production. Known for his kaleidoscopic range of genres, Jim’s heartfelt vocals shine on this deeply reflective track, cementing him as one of the leading voices in Black British music today.

‘aggressive’ is accompanied by a raw, intimate video shot entirely on a Blackberry by Fidel, adding a nostalgic touch that complements the song’s emotional depth. This release follows ‘nothings changed (!)’, a deeply personal song dedicated to his sister who tragically passed away last year. The grief he processed through that release has shaped his sound, helping him find solace and purpose through his music.

This summer, Jim performed his debut live show at The Albany in Deptford, an unforgettable evening where he announced his new mixtape Black British Music (2024). The project reflects his life and survival in South East London, weaving together his experiences in love, loss, and community while exploring a variety of genres, from r&b and grime to afrobeat and midwest emo.

As he now moves into a new era with the backing of XL Recordings, Jim Legxacy is poised to continue reshaping the landscape of Black British music. With support from prominent artists like Dave, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Fred again.., who recently collaborated with Jim on ‘ten’, the South London artist's star continues to rise, making him a powerful and culturally important figure in the UK music scene.
