Jim Legxacy’s ‘stick’ Builds On The Hype For 'Black British Music'

Jim Legxacy doesn’t waste a second on ‘stick' as the track lands fast, with compressed vocals, a sliding melody, and no filler.

Rohan Dil’s new video adds a layer of grainy intimacy, parts of it shot on a Blackberry, letting the glitch and low-res texture play into Jim’s raw delivery. It's memory and motion, spliced and looped.

There’s nothing forced here. Just a steady hand on a story that’s still writing itself. ‘stick’ is lean, emotional, and full of small details that stack over time: a head nod to past pain, a signal to what’s coming. It premiered low-key on Plaqueboymax’s stream with YT, Fimiguerrero and Len, then got an extra lift via Jim’s first video chat on Kids Take Over. You can feel the cult energy growing around him. It’s not hype; it’s an investment.

Jim’s influence in 2025 isn’t speculative. It’s active. He’s one of the few UK artists shaping narrative and sound at the same time. His genreless, stitched-together approach. R&B one second, grime or midwest emo the next allows him to feel instinctive, not engineered. That’s been true since Dynasty and Citadel, but it hit harder with Homeless Ngga Pop Music*, where every track doubled as evidence of survival. No sentiment, just facts.

He’s already had moments. ‘nothings changed (!)’ carried real weight last year. ‘aggressive’ was the first proper glimpse at what black british music (2025) might hold. And ‘father’, with its Lauzza-directed video, set a new tone entirely. Still, ‘stick’ might be the clearest, tightest thing he’s dropped so far. It captures the shift from myth-building to movement-leading.

No over-explaining. No big campaign. Just another track that moves things forward and another reason why Jim Legxacy’s name stays at the front of the conversation.
