LC
In an exhilarating celebration of his critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize-nominated album "hugo," revered wordsmith Loyle Carner has released "hugo: reimagined (Live From The Royal Albert Hall)."

This special live performance, recorded in October 2023, coincided with Carner's 29th birthday and showcased his extraordinary talent alongside a host of special guests, including Jordan Rakei, Athian Akec, and JNR Williams.

The Royal Albert Hall performance was a remarkable event, featuring an electrifying live band and a series of heartfelt collaborations. Carner's reinterpretation of "hugo" captures the album's evolution, bringing its deeply personal narrative to life in a grand and storied setting. The 45-minute film, directed by Milo Blake and shot by Greg Hackett, provides an immersive visual experience of the evening, produced by Spindle & Soul Purpose.

"Whilst touring ‘hugo’ for the last couple of years, I noticed that the music began to change as the shows went on. I wanted to catch a snapshot of their evolution and document how alive and fluid the things we make are. A special way to spend my birthday,"

At its core, "hugo" explores the complexities of family relationships and identity, symbolised by Carner's father's car. The car serves as a vessel for emotional exploration, where father and son had candid conversations that deepen their bond. The album concludes with the car's crushing, a powerful metaphor for Carner's emotional journey, depicted in the artwork of "hugo: reimagined."

For dedicated fans, a very limited run of “hugo: reimagined” box sets is available for purchase. Designed like a toolbox, the box set includes the live album in multiple formats, a chess board with bespoke chess pieces, incense, a keychain, a notebook, and more, making it a true collector’s item.

Looking ahead, Loyle Carner is set to headline 2024’s All Points East, his only London live date for the year, on Saturday, 17 August. He will be joined by special guests such as Nas, André 3000, Lianne La Havas, Ezra Collective, and Flying Lotus. Don't fear though, for those fans that can't see him at All Points East, they can also catch him at various UK/EU summer shows in 2024.

Loyle Carner’s "hugo: reimagined" is a testament to his evolution as an artist and his ability to connect deeply with audiences through his music. This live album and film offer a unique glimpse into the transformative power of his performances and the profound narratives he weaves.
