HOW DID WE END UP HERE? DELUXE EDITION: REUBEN AZIZ'S MASTERCLASS IN DIY MUSIC

London singer-songwriter Reuben Aziz has released the deluxe edition of his debut project, 'how did we end up here?'.

The original version, released in September last year, marked the start of Aziz's continued rise. His On The Radar freestyle went viral, he performed a standout headline show at The Grace alongside next-gen talents Proph and Odzmoney, and supported Artemas on a UK and European tour, showcasing live acoustic renditions of his discography and covers.

The deluxe edition features the Stormzy co-signed 'Stick Around,' which channels the moonlit alt-soul vibe of Mk.gee, along with 'Always Come Back,' a vulnerable reflection on Reuben's personal life, the alternative outro 'Part 2,' and the sombre closer 'More.'

Aziz shared,

“The deluxe has been coming for a long time. We had a shortlist of 50 songs going into this, but we always knew 'Stick Around' would be at the centre of it, considering the fans have been waiting so long for it. I’m grateful we got past the initial sampling issue. 'More' is the first song I made after the hype of 'find u' so it’s a bit of a full-circle moment and a nice way to finish the project.”

The standout feature of the deluxe is its incredible production quality, all crafted from his room, where the layering and attention to detail make each track dynamic and engaging. The unpredictable switch-ups and new directions introduced throughout keep listeners captivated.

A highlight of the project is 'Lost,' a minimalistic yet deeply emotional track reflecting feelings of being smitten yet occasionally dejected in love. 'I'll Be There' also shines with its hopeful yet grounded energy, blending pianos, reverb, and poetic lyricism, capped with a prophetic outro from Reuben's grandfather.

Reuben's personal connection to his music resonates deeply, with tracks like 'Magic' offering a relatable space for listeners to express their feelings through the music rather than bottling them up. The project has been widely praised, with no skips and each song feeling emotionally connected rather than a collection of random tracks.

His goal for the new year is to cement himself as a leading name in the evolving UK R&B scene. With a growing fanbase and the deluxe release now solidifying his place, how did we end up here? sets the stage for an impactful 2025.
