East London’s very own Rio Rainz is back with a bang, marking his first release of the year with the infectious new track “BAD!”.
Produced by Oscar Moos, this playful, bouncy song showcases Rio’s talent for blending catchy rhythms with heartfelt lyrics. In "BAD!", Rio expresses his feelings for a special someone who has caught his attention, bringing his unique blend of alt-R&B and rap to the forefront.
The accompanying video, directed by RAD Films, perfectly captures Rio’s old soul, starting and ending with a clever piano lounge intro and outro. The video’s soft summery tones and Rio's larger-than-life presence shine as he glides through the streets of London in a vibrant vintage car. Rio describes the single as having a
“high-energy feel that makes you want to move and feel a bit vain, It’s not just about being bad. It’s about embracing your mischievous side and breaking away from conventions and expectations. It encourages you to take risks and celebrate your individuality without worrying about judgment.”
Late 2023 saw Rio release his third EP, "Cobwebs in My Room," a six-track project that showcased his unique fusion of alt-R&B and rap, solidifying his place in the burgeoning UK DIY scene. This release was followed by a standout, sold-out debut showcase at The Lower Third, further establishing his presence in the music industry.
Through introspective lyrics, he has openly shared his highs and adolescent battles, aiming to support others with his vulnerability. Rio’s distinctive worldview, which includes a distaste for all things modern and a love for genuine, real-life connections, enables him to merge his diverse creative talents seamlessly into his music.
With "BAD!" Rio Rainz continues to break stereotypes and push boundaries, creating a multi-layered musical experience that resonates with his ever-growing audience.
