This years lineup is especially big, celebrating the houses 25th anniversary of its place in British culture with a globe spanning set of artists, it’s set to be a big boogie in the sun this year.
Somerset House is one of the most iconic public buildings in central London, dating back to 1776. More recently the house is known for its diverse art exhibitions, various community projects and mainly the huge summer series music event that takes place every July.
Known for its varied lineups both niche and mainstream, it’s one of the more unique gig settings, taking place in the courtyard of the house. This years lineup is especially big, celebrating the houses 25th anniversary of its place in British culture. With a globe spanning set of artists, it’s set to be a big boogie in the sun this year.
Rizzle Kicks have finally made their long awaited return to music with their latest album Competition Is For Losers and what better way to celebrate it than opening the summer series? Alongside new wave pop stars FLO, bringing their modern R&B magic and sultry melodies to the stage. St. Vincent, the genre-bending guitarist wizard, will also be headlining this year, as well as the Scottish indie band The Snuts. Even bigger news, the one and only Giggs is bringing a specially curated show to close the festival, with special guests to be announced. Dreamy Aussie band The Paper Kites will bring their signature folk-rock to the courthouse, as well as the Summer Series Debut of iconic singer songwriter Joy Oladokun. (Her last London show sold out quick, so be speedy with this one.)
One of the most interesting sets on this lineup is the premiere of the new film Rituals: Union Black, by the BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr. Being presented live with a specifically commissioned live score, this one is shaping up to be a one of a kind experience. The festival is set to run from the 10th to the 20th of July.
General Sale tickets will be available from 10am on Thursday the 6th of march.
