SCUBA PUSHES SONIC BOUNDARIES WITH HIGH-OCTANE 'D:U:2'

The latest release from Scuba, one of the UK’s most versatile and prolific electronic music producers, is the second volume of his critically acclaimed Digital Underground Mixtape, titled 'D:U:2' as he continues to showcase his boundary-pushing sound and deep influence on the electronic scene.

The album features old-school hardcore, breakbeat, jungle and techno. They are raw,warehouse-ready cuts, the release is one of the most euphoric, high-octane productions of his career so far, having received support from the likes of Tom Ravenscroft, BBC 6 Music, Mixmag and many more.

The album is about regaining a joyful experience in the studio that doesn’t feel like work, after a film score project Scuba was working on during the pandemic that had him burnt out, and desperate to return to music production without any strict parameters or guidelines.

The second track “U Never See’ is high energy, upbeat, with a jazzy feel. Track five ‘Forever’ is drum-fuelled, and catchy, with scattery vocals and several drops, while track seven ‘Storms Of Love’ provides reverb-rich bass, with snippets of soulful vocals, for an insistent brain-invasion of an old skool rave track; while the following track ‘Pill Press’ delivers a techno beat, percussion and piano chords over dark synths and chimes, and it’s spellbindingly danceable and really captures the definition of hardcore.
