Nigerian artist Olaolu Slawn is taking his bold, playful aesthetic into the world of footwear with the launch of his own slider collection titled ‘Slawn Shapes’.
The highly anticipated collection will be available on the artist's website starting October 22nd, priced at £69.99 for a single pair or £110 for two pairs. With his unique caricaturistic style, Slawn brings a fun and distinct personality to the sliders, featuring a closed-toe design and the cheeky tagline “F*ck Crusty Toes.”
Slawn has partnered with Shape Shoes, a footwear team consisting of Alfie McMeeking, Shafae Ali, and Archie Midgley. The collaboration incorporates Slawn's signature artistic motifs - most notably, the facial design that forms the body of the shoe - and introduces a specially designed tread that leaves a unique footprint. The sliders are made from a rubber material selected for its comfort and versatility, standing out from other sliders on the market.
At just 23, Slawn has already made a major impact across multiple fields, from designing the 2023 Brit Award to collaborating with musical legends like SZA, Beyoncé, and A$AP Rocky. This collection is yet another extension of his polymathic talents, showcasing his continued innovation in art, fashion, and design.
The launch of ‘Slawn Shapes’ follows a successful exhibition at Saatchi Yates gallery, further cementing Slawn’s status as a multifaceted creative force. These sliders are just one more step in his ever-evolving artistic journey, blending humour r, style, and cultural commentary into a wearable piece of art.
With roots in Lagos and an influence that spans the globe, Slawn is continuing to push boundaries in the worlds of art, design, and fashion. His sliders reflect not just his creativity, but also his ability to find his footing - literally - in new forms of artistic expression.
