SLEIGH BELLS CONTINUE TO PROVE THAT YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD FOR ROCK N' ROLL

Guy Negus
Their new offering titled ‘Wanna Start A Band?’ is a thundering and punchy comeback single, peppered with crunchy guitar riffs and choruses so sweet you run the risk of a sugar high.

Sleigh Bells - Derrick Miller and Alexis Krauss

It’s been 4 very long years since the pop rock disrupters known as Sleigh Bells released their last album, the introspective and synth laden Texis. I cannot state enough that the duo have not sounded this urgent and down right riotous since 2012’s Reign of Terror. The song is continuously electrifying, with vocal warping harkening back to the bands fresh faced days in 2010. In contrast to its hints of nostalgia, guitarist/producer Derek Miller has clearly learned a few things in his lengthy career in music, starting out as a guitarist for Poison The Well. It’s a bouncy 2 and a half minute joyride that reminds people that their sound will forever grow with them.

A perfect entry point for new fans, while letting the veterans know that this is still THE Sleigh Bells. Throwbacks are not just found in the production, but in the lyrics too. Vocalist Alexis Krauss beams brightly, contemplating the rocky road ahead forming a band with a close friend, while processing that this band will live on forever through its discography and impact in the alternative pop/rock scene.

"Twenty years back in vision kicks, right around like ninety six, all I ever cared to dream. Do you wanna start a band with me?".

I am extremely glad that when that question was posed to Alexis 17 years ago, she said yes.
