'SUPACELL', THE NEW SCI-FI SERIES FROM ACCLAIMED UK FILMMAKER RAPMAN

Rising to prominence with YouTube trilogy 'Shiro's Story', Rapman went on to make his full-length writing and directorial debut in 2019 with 'Blue Story'.

His latest venture is 'Supacell', a brand new six-episode series which is available to stream on Netflix.

Supacell follows the story of five seemingly ordinary black south-Londoners who develop unexpected superpowers. The heart of the show lies in the relationship between Michael (Tosin Cole) and Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo). These characters provide a beautifully intricate portrayal of black love, something that for so long has been so rarely showcased on screen.

Throughout the series, Rapman draws attention to societal issues disproportionately affecting Black people. The episodes touch on issues of human trafficking, extreme surveillance, global anti-Blackness and predatory medical practices.

Other cast members include: Josh Tedeku (Tazer), Nadine Mills (Sabrina), Eric Kofi-Abrefa (Andre), Calvin Demba (Rodney) & Eddie Marsan (Ray).

Musicians and cultural figures Ghetts and Digga D also make an appearance, continuing Rapman's longstanding symbiosis with the UK music scene. Both artists also feature on the Supacell soundtrack, which is now available on streaming platforms.

The actors featured in the series have expressed in interviews the joy they felt being involved with the show. Specifically they referenced how nothing like this has ever been made, particularly on this scale, and with it all being filmed in south-London.

With Supacell, Rapman continues to fly the flag for black British culture, as well as showcasing his impressive range with his first Sci-Fi offering.

Supacell is now streaming on Netflix, and we highly recommend you check it out.

Will we be seeing series two on the way soon? 👀
